Bean & Beyond, formerly known as Jolt Parkhurst, sits comfortably in Parkhurst Town Centre as a local café spot where both regulars and visitors stop by for a casual coffee break or a straightforward lunch. The vibe here leans towards relaxed and approachable, attracting a mix of workers grabbing a mid-morning cappuccino, families popping in for a simple breakfast, and travelers passing through the area looking for a fresh, uncomplicated meal.

The café’s strength isn't just in its coffee, though that cappuccino is a popular pick. It can sometimes vary in creaminess and temperature, but on most days it’s a practical choice for those after a no-fuss caffeine fix. Hot chocolates and iced lattes are also solid options for when the weather’s warmer, with frappes offering a sweeter, cooler alternative—perfect on a sunny Queensland day. Outdoor seating around the town centre allows for watching the steady hum of Parkhurst life while enjoying your drink.

Bean & Beyond’s menu extends comfortably beyond coffee, offering straightforward lunch items that suit a casual, hunger-satisfying experience. Items like their chicken schnitzel burger, steak sandwich, and quiche with either sweet potato or beer battered chips are typical of a local spot catering to straightforward, hearty tastes rather than adventurous dining. The chicken and salad wraps have garnered appreciation for their freshness, indicating attention to quality in simpler dishes.

Breakfast here usually involves familiar Australian café fare—smashing avocado with eggs or an egg benedict variation—served efficiently and with friendly service. While the setting isn’t swanky, the staff’s helpfulness and the clean, tidy environment create a dependable stop for a morning meal or quick lunch away from home.

Overall, Bean & Beyond works best for locals who want a grounded café experience without pretense. It fits neatly into Parkhurst’s daily rhythm, where a practical coffee, uncomplicated food, and a friendly face are valued. Weekday mornings and early afternoons tend to be the prime windows when the spot is lively but not overwhelming, making it ideal for workers, parents with kids, and travelers alike.

Ordered a pie and dine-in cappuccino. The pie came first and it was quite good (perhaps a touch dry), the coffee came a few minutes later. Service was really good, let down on this occasion by the coffee. It was closer to a flat white with chocolate sprinkles. No creamy texture, a little watery. Flavour was mild, temperature a little under.
